Laminated windows consist of two outer layers of glass or plastic bonded together with a clear optical interlayer. Micro fine meshes and optical films can be incorporated between layers to improve contrast enhancement, add shielding and increase display ruggedness.

Where weight is important laminated plastic offers an excellent alternative to glass and, in many cases, will give improved properties when thinking about impact resistance and durability.
