Acrylic infrared filters are specially formulated to transmit infrared radiation at wavelengths greater than approximately 750nm and are therefore virtually opaque to visible light.

Infrared filters are suitable for use in systems which are triggered by near infrared signals, but which operate in environments where there is exposure to visible radiation. By eliminating the visible spectrum using an IR filter the signal to noise ratio is increased therefore improving the effectiveness of the system.

Features

infrared transmission graph
  • Excellent transmittance up to approximately 90% in the IR region (850cm – 2000nm), 50% at 780nm and almost 0% in the visible spectrum
  • Optionally cast in non-glare finish to cut down surface reflections
  • Standard thicknesses of 0.5, 1, 1.5, 2, 3mm, non-standard available on request
  • Filters can be supplied to customer drawings
  • Acrylic filters can be machined to size and/or laser engraved

Applications

Acrylic IR filters have a number of applications including but not limited to:

  • Remote controls
  • Security systems
  • Presence sensing devices
  • Proximity sensors and scanners
